Graduating tomorrow
Hello out there. I am sorry for not posting a quick update on my latest scans. Overall I feel good about them despite mixed results (at least in the lungs). My bone scan looked great, nothing new popped up or got worse. However, in my lungs there was some growth and yet some shrinking and even disappearing tumors in some areas. It was decided that I stay on Sutent for another cycle. So I won’t have much change in my treatment plan for at least another month to six weeks.
I am looking forward to the big day tomorrow and getting settled eventually in the Dallas/FW area. I am confident that Brandy will find a good job down there and we are really excited for the warmer weather. We are working hard on finding the best medical team possible for me on all fronts.

Jonathan, sure was thinking about you all yesterday. I tried watching the webcast but was unable to access the site (not much of a computer geek!). My computer kept saying “not found” for some reason. I will be anxious to hear all the details. The weather outside sure is frightful. I’m sure you are experiencing the same - or worse. We all will be jealous thinking of you and Brandy when you get settled in Dallas. Thanks for the update and have a good week. I watched the video of you graduating the other day - what an amazing accomplishment…and also how exciting to be on TV! The only time I’ve ever been on TV was when that Jim Lehrer PBS show came to Tipton and wandered around the halls of THS with their cameras. Remember how weird it was that they’d just peek inside class rooms and we had to try to not look at the camera?! I have that video somewhere…
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and I hope that you’re doing well! I’m excited that you’re in Tipton so I can see you and Brandy next time I come home! Hopefully it’ll be soon, but I just never know what days I’ll be able to get out of the bank.

Welcome back to Kansas - Jonathan, Brandy and May family. I’m glad that we got rid of all the snow before you got home. We have had amazing weather this past week. It’s almost been too nice to stay inside and watch bowl games - nah!! I know you’re excited about ND winning and the Big 12 isn’t doing to bad either. There are no words to ease your pain right now. My prayer for you both is that you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and that He has brought peace to both of your hearts by putting your faith and trust in HIM. HE will sustain you. despite all of your troubles, you have made your parents very proud and you should be proud too. i have known your dad since 1969, and met you mom at their wedding; and thru all of those mostly good years, nothing has made me more impressed with the May family than you. i think of you every morning in mass and i hope this new year brings more victories, for you and ND!

Just to let you know we’re all so proud of your accomplishments! (Makes me tired just reading about them! ) It’s apparent to us that your purpose in life is to be an inspiration to others, proving that nothing should stand in the way of your dreams. You are the strongest person I know.
Sorry we didn’t get to see you over Christmas - the weather just wouldn’t cooperate. At least I got to spend a little time with your Mom….You probably wouldn’t have been so entertained with all the “sister” talk going on… probably for the best that you hung out with Chuck and watched football instead… now if Tubby would’ve been here, you wouldn’t have missed it for the world. (I’ve seen how you pretend to not pay attention to all the ridiculous chit-chat - but somehow migrate closer and closer to us!)
Anyway, we really miss you all and can’t wait for our next visit. Tell Brandy to have Settlers set up and ready for us! We continue to pray for your miracle, Jonathan… no one deserves it more. Keep the faith and stay strong. You are loved!

You do not know me but I’m close friends with your Aunt Nancy and Uncle David. They’ve kept me updated on your amazing accomplishments and truly inspiring will to beat the odds. I just wanted to let you know that you are an inspiration to many, even those you do not know, to push on even when being told it is not possible. And though this story is not ending how we all so prayed it would, you are a miracle and you have a great purpose… both here on earth and somewhere beyond. I ran into your Mom at the grocery store the other day and she introduced me to Brandy. Sure seems super nice. Congrats on the wedding and graduation! I told your mom that the NWTF was sending a film crew out to film me and another guy turkey hunting next week. I have never hunted turkeys in January, so it ought to be an experience!! It will be aired on Turkey Call TV on the Outdoor Channel. Take care of yourself.

Sorry I haven’t been able to leave a comment for you in the past… I keep meaning to but I have been very busy. However, I would much rather write to you instead of studying for exams. And I wanted to say congrats on graduating!!!! You are a great inspiration for so many people and I look up to you very much. Also, you should probably know that you are pretty famous here since I talk about you and keep my close friends updated on all that you have done and what is going on. They don’t even know you and you inspire them, which is really amazing. There is also a picture of you and me on the “prayer” board in my theology class, so you have many prayers coming from my class and me everyday. Anyway, I hope you are feeling better and hope to see you and Brandy soon so I can beat you both in Settlers! Love you!

I have never sent you a note on your site before. I am the guy who stopped last summer to visit. I was on the motor cycle. I figured you were already plenty busy. Anyway I have been following your progress and I have to tell you I am embarassed. You have gotten more done in the last year and 1/2 while fighting this dastardly illness than I have, and I have no excuses. I watched your graduation video and I have to say, you are “the Man”. No only that but you talked that good lookin woman into marrage. You college boys snag all the babes. I couldn’t be happier for you if you were my own. Job well done. Now that you have put sufficient pressure on the rest of us could you kind of slack off a little and try to enjoy. Seriously, I am proud of what you have managed to accomplish. You should be too. Well you guys, it sure is lonely here in Ohio without you! Not much excitement when the May family is not in the house! You know that I’m thinking of you and all the fun we’ve had. Wish Kansas wasn’t so far away. Maybe I should just click my heels together to see if I end up at the ranch!
It’s been rainy now it’s snowy and cold. My car door would have been frozen shut tonight except for the fact that I shut my seat belt in it! I’m drinking some Chamomile tea now to warm up; of course thinking of you does that to me!

I have been a close friend with Oliva, your cousin, for many years.
i am in her theology class this year and we as a class have prayed for you everyday. I have seen what olivia has gone through during your sickness.. and sometimes she just calls me so she can talk to someone about what you are going through.
I can say that i am amazed of what you are doing here. Even though you are sick, your not letting anything stop you. YOU GRADUATED! …with a masters! i can say that i look up to you because you are so inspring.

First off, I have to say that I am completely jealous of you after I saw your pictures of you with DJ, A-Rod, and Johnny Damon. Wow.
I sit behind Olivia in Theology and I have gotten to know her very well. I can just sense the family togetherness that you all must have. Not many families can say that they are as closely bonded as you all must be.
I can’t say I’ve been in your position before, and I don’t know if I ever will be. But I can say this: I have had two relatives die, both from diseases or sudden ailments that were out of our reach. There’s no doubt about it: it is a hard thing to get through. We knew that their chance of survival was very very low, but that never stopped us. We prayed every day and as hard as we could, and we never gave up hope.
Jonny, don’t ever give up. If you truly believe that you can get past this, no one is going to stop you from acheiving that goal. Keep working and keep goin along. God bless you.
