all is well

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I apologize for the delay, but everything appears to be okay. Many of you may have heard that I wasn’t feeling very well last week. I had my CT scan bumped up and it showed no growth once again (as well as ruled out any clotting which was suspected given my symptoms). Everything looked good as far as they could tell. It is possible that my troubles could be the result of a chronic lung infection (I’m now on antibiotics). Overall, my visit reminds me of the headline Uncle Bill always told me about with his favorite baseball player Dizzy Dean. Here is what the papers read after Dean was hit in the head, “Dean’s head examined, nothing found.” It always made me laugh a bit thinking about that.
I found a place in Toledo and will be moving in early December. I will be leaving for home for the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow. My time there will seem short as I will try to cram in as many activities that I can including a wedding Saturday. So be warned if you have plans to stop by this weekend, I may not be there.

Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving, there’s always plenty to be thankful for! God Bless.

catching up

First of all, I want to thank many of you for the well-wishes for my birthday. Some of you may have heard, but the last few weeks have seen a few ups and downs. I wasn’t feeling well for a time and had to take a break from the drug for a few days. I was having bouts with some digestive problems including some severe abdominal pain. I believe the problem has been corrected. I most likely needed a break from the drug anyway as I have been taking my chemo pills every day for almost 12 weeks straight. I was taking 80mg, which is the longest time they’ve seen anyone on that dosage. Some people have been seeing benefit (along with side effects) from 20mg. I have recently bumped down to 60mg. I was also put on a drug to help me digest food. Apparently the drug was causing side effects with my pancreas. I now feel much better.

I will be moving back to Toledo soon to finish up school and I’m excited about that. I’ll be making a trip to Detroit next week for a routine check-up then 2 weeks after for scans.

Thanks again for all of your support and I’ll write more soon because I have been slacking lately on here.
