trying to have some fun

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Saturday I went to Notre Dame’s game and yet again, they lost. Tomorrow Dad and I are going to be making a road trip to Cleveland to catch the Indians game against Boston in the playoffs. It is a great way to end our little baseball tour this year. This will be my 12th Major League game this year in 9 different cities. It’s ironic how I didn’t get to a Royals game in KC, but managed to see them play 3 times in person. I return to Detroit Thursday morning for my appointments which shouldn’t amount to much. I will get to see ND play USC in South Bend Saturday on my 26th birthday. I am looking forward to enjoying the game (and the day) with dad, Jeremy, and my girlfriend. It’s been a rough year for ND, but hopefully they can find a way to pull out a win! It would be all I want for my b-day.

good day

After several days of feeling under the weather, today has been excellent. It’s amazing how your spirits can be lifted simply by feeling energized. Today I did some running outside, and it felt great. I can almost run without a limp! It won’t be long now. I feel like I can finally enjoy my time at home. Yesterday I had fun, but still didn’t feel great. I did some pheasant hunting (which I always enjoy) and we did well. I think I will save turkey hunting for the next time I’m home.
This spring I plan on returning to school and finishing my degree. I have only 2 classes to go for my Master of Public Health degree. I will soon be looking for an apartment in Toledo. I hope to hold a grand graduation bash!

In a recent conversation, I was asked what my favorite Bible passage was. Although it’s a popular choice, Psalm 23 (the old translation) never gets old. I also like Ecclesiastes 3. I’m sure there are others, maybe I need to actually read the Bible more often…

sorry for the delay

The scans I had Wednesday and Thursday revealed stable cancer. While this is never what I fully want to hear…I’ll take it. No home run, but at least I got on base (in the words of my little brother). To clarify, the disease is not advancing. However, it doesn’t appear to be going away either. I will continue on the protocol for another 8 weeks now, while making trips to Detroit for routine check-ups every other week in between. I’ll have both CT and PET scans the week after Thanksgiving.
The past few days involved a lot of traveling and scheduling so my apologies for not getting something out sooner. I was in Hays for Oktoberfest Friday and got to see many friends. I also enjoyed an Irish victory last night (it’s about time!!). I’m at home in Kansas for a few days, which is needed. I’ll write some more soon.

this week

Wednesday I have another CT scan. I also have a PET scan Thursday along with labs and a clinical vist. I don’t like making direct prayer requests on my own behalf, but this would be a good time. I have not been feeling the greatest lately, not bad though. I think I may have a cold (at least I hope that’s all it is). Or hey - even better news would be that I’m hacking this crap out of my body! Later this week I’ll have an update. I may write before then too.
